Who is MDR?
MDR are an emerging force from the heart of Cork and Tipperary, quickly establishing themselves as one of Ireland’s most compelling new acts. Blending alternative indie-rock with a rich heartland rock sensibility, their sound pairs driving, anthemic instrumentation with raw emotional depth. Following a string of standout performances, MDR have built a reputation as a band firmly on the rise, with momentum that shows no signs of slowing. Their music has drawn comparisons to the story telling lyricism of Sam Fender and the propulsive energy of The Smiths, creating a sound that feels both timeless and distinctly their own.
"it was my first time catching them live, but with that kind of electric crowd connection, it definitely won’t be my last. These guys sounded unreal and whatever 'it' is... they have it" - Alan Robinson (Headline Music)
"You can see MDR connect instantly with their audience. They're building a strong following of fans that chant their songs right back at them at shows - me included" - Kate Twohig (Curator and Producer of When Next We Meet Festival)
"Great songs, Cool people. It's always fun, challenging, uplifting, and creatively rewarding .Working with MDR as their producer and engineer is a really special thing. I love love love this band!" - Duncan O' Cleirigh (Producer and engineer of Blackwater Studios)
"It’s heartwarming to me how passionate this band are about what they’re doing and who they’re doing it with". - Mia Tobin (Streets and Sodium Lights)
"I had the pleasure of both interviewing and watching MDR perform live, and the energy they present doesn't change off the mic, they'll truly go far" - Adam Jordan (Juice FM)
"Kit O'Regan is the vocalist there and Kenneth Buckley is lead guitar and they are with MDR which could well be Cork's next big thing" - PJ Coogan (Cork's 96 FM)
“The Cork and Tipperary outfit had the room from the moment they stepped on stage, delivering a set driven less by individual highlights than by momentum” - Shane J. Horan (MC Gig Music)
